Rabat recently hosted the Morocco-India Economic Forum 2026, a pivotal event initiated by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (CCISRSK). This significant gathering was organized in close collaboration with the Embassy of India in the Kingdom and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
This high-profile forum brought together a distinguished Indian delegation, comprising 21 prominent business leaders from strategic sectors, alongside key Moroccan economic stakeholders. The primary objective was to delve into opportunities for establishing enduring partnerships and fostering mutually beneficial investments between the two nations.
During the event, Hassan Sakhi, President of the CCISRSK, underscored the profound, long-standing friendship between Morocco and India, which has blossomed into a robust, diversified, and continuously expanding economic partnership.
In a speech delivered on his behalf, Sakhi highlighted that high-level ministerial initiatives and various memoranda of understanding signed across strategic domains serve as clear indicators of the dynamic political relationship shared by both countries.
He further noted that the presence of such an influential Indian business delegation, representing sectors including automotive, agriculture, information technology, healthcare, and energy, demonstrates the escalating interest Indian players have in the Moroccan market.
The vitality of bilateral trade is particularly evident in the substantial volume of economic exchanges, Sakhi observed. He emphasized Morocco’s keen desire to further amplify this momentum, acknowledging India as a premier trade partner possessing extensive technological and industrial expertise.
For his part, Mohan Puri, head of the CII delegation, expressed his conviction that Morocco and India are well-positioned to forge a powerful partnership encompassing India, Morocco, and the wider African continent. He lauded the Kingdom’s considerable potential and capabilities.
Puri particularly commended the abundant opportunities Morocco presents, especially within renewable energies, green hydrogen, aviation, defense, and digital technologies. He affirmed that the Kingdom serves as an ideal platform for businesses from both countries to implement diverse projects and advance technological development.
The forum’s proceedings featured an institutional video showcasing the economic strengths and investment prospects of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region. Additionally, attendees viewed a documentary detailing Morocco’s business climate and the latest updates to its investment charter.
A significant outcome of the forum was the signing of a memorandum of understanding, specifically designed to bolster trade exchanges, investments, and industrial collaborations between India and the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region.
The event concluded with dedicated networking sessions and successful B2B meetings between representatives of the two delegations.
