Accountability Session in Dakar: Prime Minister Sonko’s Government Under Scrutiny
The Prime Minister of Senegal, Ousmane Sonko, alongside his cabinet members, is set to appear before lawmakers today for a quarterly session of Questions to the Government. This constitutional exercise, mandated by Article 104 of the National Assembly’s internal regulations, serves as a platform for transparency and oversight of executive actions.
Scheduled to last precisely 202 minutes, the session will feature 14 questions. The majority party, Pastef-Les Patriotes, has been allocated 10 questions, while the opposition group Takku Wallu and independent lawmakers will each pose 2 questions.
This marks the fifth accountability session since the current government took office. The proceedings will be overseen by Ismaëla Diallo, First Vice-President of the National Assembly, ensuring fair and structured dialogue between legislators and the executive branch.
The initiative underscores Senegal’s commitment to democratic governance, reinforcing public trust through regular government scrutiny. Such sessions provide lawmakers with the opportunity to assess policy implementation, demand clarifications, and hold officials accountable for their performance.
