Under instructions from President Ibrahim Traoré, Burkina Faso’s Security Minister Mahamadou Sana began a Sunday tour of Nayala province. The mission aimed to evaluate the security situation, boost morale among frontline troops, and listen to community concerns.
Accompanied by the governor of the Bankui region and local administrative officials, the minister first held talks with traditional leaders in Toma. He then met with provincial administrators and department heads.
Discussions highlighted ongoing challenges, especially in health and education, as well as mobility issues for public workers in certain remote areas.
During his tour, Sana also met with members of the Defence and Security Forces (FDS), Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP), traditional Dozo hunters, and community leaders. He conveyed the president and government’s congratulations for security gains and the gradual return of populations to villages previously affected by insecurity.
The minister praised the courage, dedication and professionalism of the fighting forces, urging them to maintain vigilance, discipline and cohesion. He emphasised strengthening cooperation between civilians and security forces to consolidate anti-terrorism achievements.
In the communes of Kougny and Gassan, residents expressed satisfaction with authorities’ efforts to restore security and facilitate resettlement.
At the conclusion of his visit, Sana expressed satisfaction with the improved security situation in Nayala and the quality of collaboration between locals and the fighting forces. He reaffirmed the government’s determination to continue actions for lasting peace and stability in the province and across the national territory.
