From Kinshasa, the C64 coalition has unequivocally rejected President Félix Tshisekedi’s proposed national dialogue, branding it a mere diversion from the profound and pressing difficulties confronting Congolese citizens. Opposition factions accuse the administration of presenting superficial measures instead of committing to a genuinely inclusive national dialogue.

Following five hours of extensive discussions, Martin Fayulu publicly announced the coalition’s unified stance. He declared, « The populace is not deceived. These repeated consultations initiated by Félix Tshisekedi fail to address the critical emergencies of war, widespread insecurity, the ongoing health crisis, or the profound social distress afflicting the Congolese people. They merely divert the nation from its true priorities. »

Opposition figures contend that President Tshisekedi is « cynically focused » on retaining power beyond his current second term, which concludes in 2028. They further alleged, « The administration is actively orchestrating conditions for an extension, leveraging the conflict and suffering in the eastern regions of the country for its political gain. The C64 coalition stands firmly against Félix Tshisekedi’s ambitions, which risk solidifying the balkanization of the nation, even past the mandated end of his term, now just 754 days away. »

In response to what it describes as a dangerous deviation, the C64 plans to rally public support. The coalition has reiterated its call for a significant national march scheduled for September 15, aimed at countering the ruling party’s political maneuvers.
