Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema arrived in Abidjan on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, to participate in the ceremonies marking Côte d’Ivoire’s 66th independence anniversary. His official visit underscores the strong bonds of cooperation and fraternity uniting Gabon and Côte d’Ivoire.

At Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport, the Gabonese Head of State was greeted by Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nialé Kaba, representing local authorities. The welcoming party also included government officials, senior administrative and diplomatic figures, as well as members of the Gabonese community residing in Côte d’Ivoire.

Following official protocol for heads of state, President Oligui Nguema received a military salute upon disembarking from his aircraft.
