Ludovic Megne Ndong has officially commenced his tenure as the new president of the Autorité de régulation des transports ferroviaires (ARTF), Gabon’s crucial rail transport oversight body. The formal handover ceremony took place in Owendo, where he succeeded François Banga Eboumi.
As a former Minister of Housing, Mr. Megne Ndong steps into this pivotal role at the helm of the regulatory council with a clear mandate: to steer the implementation of newly defined strategic directions for the institution. He has specifically articulated his commitment to rigorously applying the provisions of the ordinance that reorganized ARTF’s operational framework.
Furthermore, the new president aims to foster stronger dialogue with social partners and the agency’s personnel, believing this will enhance the authority’s overall efficiency and improve working conditions for its teams. Among the immediate priorities he outlined are the strategic redeployment of control teams and the recommencement of inspections across the vital Transgabonais railway corridor, stretching from Owendo to Franceville.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of François Ndong Obiang, Minister of Reform and Relations with Institutions, and Adrien Moukabi, the Executive Secretary of ARTF. This significant appointment unfolds against a backdrop of several ongoing, transformative reforms within Gabon’s dynamic railway sector.
