A prominent Moroccan-American scholar and political analyst, Mohamed Daadaoui, has underscored the pivotal role of the Kingdom of Morocco in shaping proactive migration policies across the African continent. Speaking from Washington, he highlighted the nation’s commitment to responsible border management and transparent international cooperation as key pillars in addressing irregular migration challenges.
Coordinated efforts and shared responsibilities
During his analysis, Daadaoui emphasized the success of joint initiatives with Spain, particularly in dismantling human trafficking networks and conducting high-stakes rescue operations at sea. Yet, he cautioned against overburdening a single nation with the sole responsibility for managing transcontinental migration flows. « Morocco can secure its borders, but it cannot single-handedly resolve the broader issue of irregular migration, » he noted, stressing that addressing migration requires collective action rather than unilateral efforts.
Europe urged to adopt a collaborative approach
The political scientist called on European governments to reframe their migration strategies by prioritizing the root causes of displacement, including economic hardship and social instability. He argued that sustainable solutions in the Mediterranean region depend on deepening strategic partnerships with Morocco. « Effective migration governance hinges on close collaboration with Morocco as a trusted and reliable partner, » he concluded.
