The United States and Benin are solidifying their strategic defense partnership. General Christopher J. Mahoney, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for the United States, recently held discussions at the Pentagon with Major General Fructueux Gbaguidi, Chief of Staff of the Beninese Armed Forces.

A primary focus of their dialogue was joint security initiatives and the military assistance provided by Washington, particularly through the U.S. Africa Command (Africom).

Both senior officials underscored the critical importance of a stable, secure, and democratic Benin for overall regional peace. They reiterated their commitment to deepening military collaboration and working alongside other regional partners to effectively counter transnational threats, thereby ensuring enduring stability across the area.
