Yaoundé launches major discount sale on everyday essentials to ease cost of living

Cameroon’s Minister of Commerce, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, has announced a special promotional sales operation in Yaoundé.

The initiative, which will run for several weeks, is set to take place at Boulevard du 20 May.

The discounted sale of fast-moving consumer goods will operate from June 22 to September 30, 2026.

According to the Ministry of Commerce, the event is organized in partnership with civic-minded companies and aligns with the government’s strategy to combat the high cost of living. It aims to boost household purchasing power during the long holidays while also helping parents prepare for the 2026-2027 school year by offering school supplies at affordable prices.

Minister Mbarga Atangana added that beyond Yaoundé and its surroundings, as well as other major cities, the operation is intended to expand nationwide, particularly through traveling promotional caravans.
