The government of Bénin is moving forward with the formal organization of the civil engineering sector. In a recent announcement, the Minister of Living Environment and Transport, Georges Alé, confirmed a deadline extension for professionals to register on the official national roll.

New timeline for engineering professionals
This decision aligns with the regulatory framework established by Decree No. 2021-300 of June 9, 2021, which governs the engineering profession. The ministry has officially granted an additional 30-day window for all eligible civil engineers to complete their administrative formalities through the designated digital portal.
Eligibility and specialized fields
The registration process is open to Beninese civil engineers residing both locally and abroad. To be eligible, applicants must possess a design engineering degree, a professional master’s degree recognized by the state and CAMES, or an equivalent qualification.
The census targets a wide array of technical specialties, including:
- Public works and building construction
- Geotechnics and transport infrastructure
- Hydraulics and energy systems
- Sanitation and environmental engineering
- Electronics, computer science, and telecommunications
Finalizing the national roll
Qualified professionals are urged to submit their applications within 30 days of the announcement. This measure is a critical step toward the effective creation of the first official roll of the National Order of Civil Engineers of Bénin, ensuring that the profession is properly regulated and recognized across the country.
