Bénin unveils vision 2026-2033 government action plan for september political rollout
The finalization of the Government Action Plan (PAG) for the 2026-2033 seven-year term is nearing completion, with an official presentation scheduled for the political reopening in September.
Strategic pillars shaping the PAG 2026-2033
According to executive spokesperson Léandre Wilfried Houngbédji, the upcoming PAG seeks to build upon ongoing reforms while introducing fresh priorities across social, economic, and security sectors.
The blueprint is structured around three core objectives:
- Eliminating extreme poverty through targeted social programs and job creation initiatives
- Addressing territorial disparities by balancing infrastructure and resource allocation across regions
- Enhancing national security with strengthened institutional frameworks and community-based approaches
Government operations restructured for greater efficiency
To ensure seamless implementation, the government’s operational model has been revamped. Key changes include:
- Monthly Council of Ministers meetings for high-level policy alignment
- Bi-monthly inter-ministerial committees to foster cross-sector collaboration
- Themed cabinet councils for in-depth discussions on priority sectors
Citizen engagement drives inclusive policy development
Aligning with the Open Government Partnership, the PAG’s finalization will incorporate direct input from citizens across all twelve Bénin departments. This participatory approach aims to:
- Identify region-specific challenges and opportunities
- Align state investments with local needs and priorities
- Foster greater trust between government and communities
