The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Vocational Training recently hosted a pivotal national workshop in N’Djamena to validate a groundbreaking diagnostic report. This report lays the foundation for the upcoming National Strategy on Digital Transformation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (EFTP). Bringing together key stakeholders, the event focused on reviewing, enriching, and endorsing a document that will shape the future of digitalization in Chad’s vocational training landscape.
This initiative aligns with the Pan-African Initiative for the digital transformation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training systems, supported by prominent organizations such as UNESCO, the African Union, and the African Development Bank. The preliminary study engaged over 200 participants from 57 Technical and Vocational Training Centers (CFTP) and related institutions. Through on-site missions and digital data collection, the assessment covered every academic region in Chad, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the sector’s needs.
The opening address was delivered by Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics, and Digitalization, on behalf of the Secretary of State for Higher Education. He emphasized that digital transformation is no longer optional but a strategic imperative to align training systems with technological advancements and evolving job markets. The Government views digitalization as a critical driver for modernizing Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Chad.
Dr. Djininboh highlighted that the diagnostic report reveals significant progress alongside critical challenges. These include governance gaps, inadequate digital infrastructure, connectivity issues, unreliable power supply, insufficient trainer qualifications, and the need to integrate digital skills into curricula. He urged stakeholders to contribute actively to refine the document, ensuring the final strategy is practical, inclusive, and responsive to national realities.
With the validated report now serving as the cornerstone, the next phase involves developing the National Strategy for Digital Transformation of EFTP and its operational action plan for 2026-2030. The ultimate goal is to establish a modern, high-performance vocational training system in Chad that meets the demands of a dynamic job market.
