Mali crowns three winners in Mohammed VI foundation hadith competition, final set for 2026

The Mali chapter of the Mohammed VI Foundation for African Ulema held the national preselection phase of the third edition of the prestigious Nabawi Acharif Hadith memorisation contest on Saturday, 27 June 2026, at its headquarters in Banankabougou. After a day of intense competition, three candidates were chosen to represent Mali in the grand international final, where winners from 49 countries will compete.

This competition follows directly the recommendations of the Higher Council of the Mohammed VI Foundation for African Ulema. The preselection phase brought together 50 candidates from various madrasas and Holy Quran memorisation centres, coming from Bamako and other regions of the country.

Through this initiative, the foundation aims to encourage African youth to embrace prophetic teachings. The fundamental goal is to promote the values of tolerance, peaceful coexistence and moderation embodied in these sacred texts.

The candidates competed in three categories: Category 1 (40 Hadiths – Elementary level) was won by Ahmad Sow, Category 2 (30 Hadiths – Intermediate level) was won by Mouhamad Diallo, and Category 3 (30 Hadiths – Advanced level) was won by Boubacar Traoré.
