Morocco and ECA bolster partnership for continental growth and integration

In a high-level meeting held in Addis Ababa, Mohamed Arrouchi, the Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the African Union and the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), sat down with Claver Gatete, the Executive Secretary of the ECA. The primary focus of their discussion was the expansion of collaborative efforts between Morocco and the UN body.

The dialogue highlighted Morocco‘s unwavering dedication to fostering African integration and driving sustainable development across the continent. Both parties explored strategic avenues to deepen their partnership in alignment with regional goals.

Recognition of Morocco’s leadership

During the session, Claver Gatete expressed his appreciation for Morocco‘s pivotal role in hosting the 58th session of the Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, which took place in Tangier earlier this year. He further acknowledged the Kingdom’s consistent support for the ECA‘s various initiatives and programs.

A significant portion of the talks centered on the Moroccan model of technical and vocational education. Gatete described this approach as an innovative and integrated framework that successfully bridges the gap between skill development, emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, and the practical requirements of modern industrialization.

Scaling success across the continent

Given the rapid economic and technological shifts currently reshaping Africa, the ECA chief advocated for a broader implementation of Morocco‘s educational strategies. He emphasized the importance of showcasing Moroccan success stories to encourage the exchange of best practices among other African nations.

Since the inception of the Economic Commission for Africa in 1958, Morocco has remained a proactive participant. The Kingdom continues to play a vital role in regional cooperation, working to accelerate the economic unity and prosperity of the entire African continent.
