President Diomaye Faye unveils ‘Kiiraay: les patriotes républicains’, a new political force in Sénégal

Sénégal: le président Diomaye Faye présente son nouveau parti, «Kiiraay: les patriotes républicains»

President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Sénégal officially introduced his new political party, named «Kiiraay: les patriotes républicains», during an afternoon event. The newly formed movement aims to safeguard the Sénégalese Republic, its vital institutions, and the cherished ancestral values passed down through generations. The overarching goal of «Kiiraay» is to reignite hope across all segments of the nation, fostering a renewed sense of purpose and unity among the people. The head of state emphasized that the homeland must always transcend any political divisions or personal ambitions, asserting, «one may be an adversary one day, but we remain brothers every day».

Under a wave of enthusiastic applause from countless militants and supporters, President Faye transformed into a commanding political leader for the afternoon. The sheer volume of attendees at the King Fahd Palace was so immense that many were compelled to follow the address by the leader of the «Diomaye Président» coalition from a large tent erected on the hotel’s forecourt.

During his address, the Sénégalese president also took the opportunity to subtly criticize his political rivals, though he refrained from naming them directly. He declared that «from now on, no warmonger will be able to disturb the peace of the Sénégalese people and their desire to better serve the Republic». According to several militants present, these remarks were perceived as being directed towards Ousmane Sonko, his former associate and the current president of the National Assembly.
