royal air Maroc launches historic casablanca to los angeles direct service
In a landmark aviation event, Morocco’s national carrier, Royal Air Maroc (RAM), inaugurated its direct flight service connecting Casablanca with Los Angeles this Sunday. This new route represents a significant milestone, establishing the first-ever direct air link between the African continent and the Pacific coast of the United States.
The inaugural flight departed from Mohammed V Airport at 04:00, embarking on a direct 12-hour journey across the Atlantic.
This momentous launch coincides with the celebration of two and a half centuries of enduring friendship between Morocco and the United States. Furthermore, it aligns with the kickoff of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, an event eagerly anticipated by football fans, especially as Morocco’s national team, the Atlas Lions, are set to compete.
Hamid Addou, Chairman and CEO of Royal Air Maroc, emphasized the significance of this development. “The opening of this route marks a historic achievement for Royal Air Maroc and for air connectivity across the African continent,” he stated. “By bringing Morocco closer to the American west coast, we reaffirm our pivotal role and our commitment to elevating Morocco’s presence on the global stage.”
+ Three Weekly Frequencies to Boost Casablanca Hub +
The new Casablanca Los Angeles route is scheduled for three weekly frequencies, utilizing state-of-the-art wide-body aircraft. Flights will operate on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Departures from Casablanca are set for 04:00, with arrivals in Los Angeles at 08:20 local time. Return flights will leave California at 10:20, landing the following day at 05:25 in Casablanca.
This expansion is an integral part of the national airline’s comprehensive development plan, which was formalized in an agreement with the government in July 2023. The initiative aims to solidify Casablanca’s position as a premier aviation hub, strategically linking Africa with Europe and the Americas. It also seeks to meet the robust demand from the Moroccan diaspora, tourists, business travelers, and football enthusiasts.
With this latest inauguration, Royal Air Maroc reinforces its strong foothold in North America, complementing its existing direct services to major cities such as New York, Washington, Miami, Montreal, and Toronto.
