Togo and Congo Discuss Peace and Security in Africa

The diplomatic ballet continued in Lomé, confirming Togo’s central role in resolving crises on the continent. In an official mission to the Togolese capital, Congolese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie, and Relations with Foreigners Constant-Serge Bounda, met with President of the Council Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé on Thursday, July 9, 2026.

The high-level meeting fit into a regular line of consultations between Lomé and Brazzaville. Discussions primarily focused on mechanisms for preventing and resolving conflicts, as well as promoting stability in different African sub-regions.

Regional Alliance Against Security Challenges

Following the audience, the Congolese diplomat highlighted the unity and convergence of views that unite the two heads of state on major continental issues.
