The Yan Diomandé transfer saga has taken a decisive turn in recent hours. The highly sought-after Ivorian winger was reportedly leaning towards Paris Saint-Germain, but RB Leipzig has issued a firm rebuttal.

After a stellar start to the World Cup, mirroring his impressive season with RB Leipzig, Yan Diomandé has attracted widespread interest. Although Liverpool had identified him as a top target, the Ivorian international appeared to have chosen PSG, edging closer to a move to the two-time reigning European champions. However, Marcel Schäfer, Leipzig’s sporting director, has poured cold water on the Parisians’ hopes.
Leipzig shuts down PSG’s Diomandé pursuit
“Our stance is clear: Yan Diomandé will play for RB Leipzig next season. We will not compromise on that! We know his worth. Yes, if Yan continues on this trajectory, the time will come to let him take the next step, but not this year. In principle, we have a four-year contract and we hold the reins. These current developments are above all a recognition of his performances. Nothing more, nothing less. And if we cannot find a solution, so be it – he still has four years on his deal. So I repeat: Yan Diomandé will remain a Leipzig player,” Schäfer stated firmly.
“Our intention is clear: Yan Diomandé will play for RB Leipzig next year”
For his part, Yan Diomandé was far more reserved when asked about his future during a press conference: “You’re informing me. I don’t have internet, I don’t have Instagram, I don’t have TikTok. My agent handles discussions with the club; I don’t have any information. I don’t want to talk about it, even with my agent, because playing in a World Cup is a once-in-four-years opportunity – you have to enjoy it. My dream is to play for my country and give my best. I no longer have Instagram, I don’t have TikTok. I can’t see anything. I have an agent who will take care of the rest. For me, the most important thing is to stay focused on the World Cup and make history.”
