Bishop of Butembo-Beni condemns political mismanagement in eastern DRC
In a solemn message commemorating the martyrs Charles Lwanga and his companions, Mgr Sikuli Paluku Melchisédech, Bishop of Butembo-Beni in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, has issued a strong warning to national leaders. His intervention follows a sharp deterioration in both security and socio-economic conditions across his diocese.
The prelate expressed deep concern over what he described as a widening “gap between political rhetoric and the urgent needs of Congolese citizens”. He highlighted how elected officials appear increasingly disconnected from the daily struggles faced by communities grappling with instability and violence.
