Malian Forces Reclaim Territory from Rebel Groups
The Malian army has declared a new phase of the conflict, stating that it has regained control over the territory targeted by the Front de libération de l’Azawad (FLA) and the group ‘Soutien de l’islam et des musulmans’, linked to Al-Qaïda.
Clashes Resume in Northern Mali
The military issued a statement confirming that clashes resumed on Sunday at Anifif, approximately 110 kilometers south of Kidal, following the arrival of reinforcements and equipment for the FLA.
‘Facing this pressure, Malian forces continued to engage the enemy with determination and tenacity,’ read the statement. ‘We will not rest until we have protected our territory and our people.’
Army’s Confidence in Counter-Terrorism Efforts
The military asserted its full faith in the ability of the Forces armées maliennes to safeguard the nation’s unity, protect the population, and triumph over hostile forces.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Mouloud Ramadan, FLA spokesperson, announced earlier that his group had regained control at Anfif after a resumption of fighting.
‘Despite this, our leader, Mbarek Ag Akli, remains active on the battlefield,’ Ramadan said.
