World Vision Tchad outlines bold 2030 strategy to transform children’s lives
N’Djamena — World Vision Tchad has unveiled its ambitious national strategy for 2026-2030, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s commitment to transforming the lives of children across the country. The strategy, launched during a high-level press conference, outlines a comprehensive roadmap aimed at reaching 3.29 million children by 2030, including 3.09 million of the most vulnerable.
The initiative integrates humanitarian assistance, sustainable development, and peacebuilding efforts to address the multifaceted challenges faced by children in Chad. These challenges include persistent poverty, malnutrition, recurrent humanitarian crises, and the far-reaching impacts of climate change. The strategy was officially presented at the N’Djamena Residence Hotel, bringing together media representatives, technical and financial partners, and national authorities.
An integrated approach to child welfare
The new strategy is built on the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus, a groundbreaking framework designed to bridge emergency interventions with long-term developmental goals and conflict resolution efforts. This holistic approach ensures that interventions in health, nutrition, education, child protection, and climate resilience are interconnected and mutually reinforcing.
Carla Dominique Denizard, Regional Director for World Vision West Africa, emphasized the innovative nature of the strategy during her address. “This is not just about survival; it’s about enabling children to thrive,” she stated. “The children of Chad deserve a life of abundance, and this strategy lays the foundation to make that a reality.” She highlighted the importance of strong partnerships, community engagement, and the integration of local cultural and spiritual values in achieving these goals.
Aligning with continental and global agendas
The strategy is meticulously aligned with key continental and international development frameworks, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16), and Chad’s own Vision 2030. By doing so, World Vision Tchad ensures that its efforts contribute to broader regional and global objectives aimed at eradicating poverty, improving health and education, and fostering sustainable development.
The strategy prioritizes several critical areas:
- Enhanced nutrition and health: Focused on integrated health services with special attention to maternal and child health.
- Quality education: Implementation of the Unlock Literacy program to improve early childhood reading skills and overall educational outcomes.
- Child protection: Strengthening measures to safeguard children from all forms of violence and exploitation.
- Climate resilience: Empowering communities to adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change through innovative and sustainable practices.
A historic moment for Chad’s children
Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, described the launch as a “historic moment” for the organization and the children of Chad. “This strategy represents a 20% increase in our ambitions compared to our previous cycle,” he noted. “Our goal is simple yet bold: to reach 3.29 million children by 2030, including 3.09 million of the most vulnerable. We want every child in Chad not just to survive, but to thrive and reach their full potential.”
He underscored the critical challenges facing Chad, where nearly 42% of the population lives below the poverty line. “The need for intensified action has never been greater,” he stated. “Through this strategy, we are committed to transforming the current challenges into sustainable opportunities for every child in Chad.”
