Launch event unites stakeholders in N’Djamena
World Vision Tchad unveiled its 2026-2030 national strategy during a high-profile press conference in N’Djamena, drawing media representatives, technical and financial partners, and government officials. The strategy targets 3.29 million children by 2030, including 3.09 million from the most vulnerable groups, through enhanced interventions in health, nutrition, education, child protection, and climate resilience. The event took place at the N’Djamena Residence Hotel.
Regional director praises “audacious and innovative” approach
Carla Dominique Denizard, World Vision’s Regional Director for West Africa based in Dakar, hailed the strategy as “audacious and innovative.” She emphasized its foundation on the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus, designed to bridge emergency responses with sustainable development and peacebuilding. “Chadian children deserve abundant lives,” she stated, highlighting the need for strong partnerships, community engagement, and integration of cultural and spiritual realities.
Denizard underscored that World Vision’s vision for West and Central Africa is to enable every child in fragile contexts not just to survive but to thrive. She noted the region faces critical challenges—security threats, multidimensional poverty, climate change impacts, and mass population displacements—necessitating an integrated approach combining humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peacebuilding.
Strategy aligns with global and continental goals
The strategy aligns with key continental and international frameworks, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16), and Chad’s Vision 2030. Key priorities include strengthening human capital, social protection, climate adaptation, improving education through the Unlock Literacy program, and child protection.
National director highlights “historic moment” for Chad’s children
Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, called the launch a “historic moment” for the organization and Chad’s children. He revealed that the new strategy represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to the previous cycle. “Our goal is simple yet bold: reach 3.29 million children by 2030, including 3.09 million of the most vulnerable,” he stated. “We want every child in Chad not just to survive but to flourish.”
Wangoy acknowledged Chad’s persistent challenges—entrenched poverty, malnutrition, recurrent humanitarian crises, and climate change impacts—with nearly 42% of the population living below the poverty line. He outlined the strategy’s core pillars: integrated nutrition and health programs with a focus on maternal and child health, literacy enhancement through the Unlock Literacy initiative, child protection from all forms of violence, and building community resilience to climate change.
Call for collective action to transform challenges into opportunities
Following the presentation, World Vision Tchad’s leadership issued a rallying cry to national stakeholders. They urged government authorities, technical and financial partners, civil society organizations, religious and community leaders, and media outlets to unite in supporting the strategy. “Collective mobilization is essential to turn today’s challenges into sustainable opportunities for Chad’s children,” they emphasized. Through this 2026-2030 strategy, World Vision Tchad aims to actively contribute to the country’s Vision 2030 and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, fostering a nation where every child is protected, well-nourished, educated, and empowered to reach their full potential.
