Mahamadou Sana, the Minister of Security for Burkina Faso, recently observed the successful initial deployment of the nation’s new e-verbalisation system for traffic violations. Just twelve hours after its official activation, the digital platform demonstrated remarkable efficiency in identifying infractions.

The system, designed to automatically detect violations of the Highway Code, went live on August 1, 2026, at precisely midnight. By noon on the same day, Minister Sana visited the video protection supervision center to monitor the process firsthand. He was accompanied by Zakaria Hebie, the Director General of Transmissions and IT, highlighting the collaborative effort behind this technological advancement in Burkina Faso.

During his visit, the Minister lauded the exceptional professionalism of the technical teams, acknowledging their pivotal role in implementing this innovative solution. In its first half-day of operation, the system recorded an impressive 1,099 infractions. These included common violations such as failing to wear a seatbelt, disregarding traffic lights, exceeding speed limits, and using a mobile phone while driving. Furthermore, five individuals had already processed their fines through the dedicated FASO ARZEKA platform.

Minister Sana emphasized that these early results unequivocally confirm the operational readiness of the system. He underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to leveraging digital technologies to enhance road safety across the country. The Ministry of Security reiterates that adhering to the Highway Code remains the most effective way to prevent penalties and ensure public safety on Burkina Faso’s roads.
