Following the opening of the second ordinary session of the 2026 legislative year, Secretary-General André Noël Essian presided over the swearing-in ceremony of more than 20 high-ranking officials appointed by President Théodore Datouo.
These officials were named to serve in the offices of the Quaestor and the General Secretariat of the National Assembly. With their installation now complete, they have officially assumed their duties within Cameroon’s legislative body.
Since assuming the presidency of the National Assembly in March, Théodore Datouo has carried out multiple appointments. However, these decisions have sparked controversy, as critics argue that the new appointments fail to reflect regional balance.
