Thousands gathered in Niamey to commemorate the third anniversary of the CNSP’s arrival at power, marking a new chapter in Niger’s history.

“This date is a memorable turning point, where Niger and its people decided to turn the page of history by supporting the CNSP’s action, which has put an end to 13 years of governance that have threatened national unity and put the nation in peril through various forms of repression under an imperialist dictatorship system,” said Boubacar Kimba Kollo, a civil society actor.
For protesters, this mobilization is also an opportunity to celebrate the achievements recorded since the advent of this new political dynamic in which Niger has engaged.
“July 26 represents a date of liberation, a date of hope, and a date that marks the milestones of a new form of governance different from the one we have known for the past three decades,” said Abdoulaye Salifou, a protester.
“Our country has made significant progress, especially in the fight against Western imperialism and the affirmation of its sovereignty. We encourage the current authorities to keep moving forward,” added Moussa Moumouni, also a protester.

Beyond celebration, attention is now focused on the challenges ahead, with hopes for reforms to continue and the ambitions of the Refoundation to be more concretized.
