In a move widely perceived as a direct address to his former Prime Minister, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye delivered a powerful warning. During the official launch of his new political entity, KIIRAAY – Les Patriotes Républicains, the head of state declared: « Fii, saa fitnë dootufi nanee ñeex ». This emphatic statement translates to: “Here, from this moment forward, what was once accepted will no longer be tolerated.”
Through this pronouncement, the founder of KIIRAAY – Les Patriotes Républicains underscored Senegal’s enduring commitment to stability and peace. This public declaration comes amid escalating tensions between the nation’s two highest executive figures, set against a backdrop of significant shifts within the presidential majority and the emergence of President Faye’s new political movement.
This development follows a period of several months characterized by open disagreements between the President and his former head of government. These divergences were evident in their distinct rhetorical approaches in national addresses and culminated in the definitive separation between the presidential coalition and the Pastef party.
Notably, Ousmane Sonko, who serves as the President of Pastef, has concurrently been engaged in his own political mobilization efforts, having recently launched a membership card drive alongside his party colleagues.
